Analyst Day Is Tomorrow. What Has Changed Since Last Week.

Six days ago these pages argued that SpaceX's Analyst Day on 21 April was the most consequential scheduled event of the month for anyone trying to understand where this listing is headed. It happens tomorrow, and several things have changed since. When the 14 April piece was written, the working target was $1.75 trillion. That figure has since been revised upward, and SpaceX is reported to be testing a valuation above $2 trillion in conversations with prospective investors. At that level the company would list at a valuation no company has carried from its first day of trading. The questions Analyst Day needs to answer have become correspondingly harder. At $2 trillion, SpaceX would trade at roughly 125 times 2025 revenue. What management says tomorrow about Starlink's subscriber economics, the xAI merger's contribution and Starship's commercial timeline has to support a number with no public market comparable. Reported valuation targets in advance of a filing are expectations rather than prices, and they move.

Interest disclosure: T-SpaceX is a tokenized loan participation right providing economic exposure linked to SpaceX's pre-IPO valuation, issued through a dedicated issuing subsidiary. T-Kalshi is issued on the same basis, linked to Kalshi's pre-IPO valuation. Redemption opens only once a Redemption Start Date is announced, and as of 20 April 2026 none had been. Tessera's founder, and entities he controls, hold related exposure. This piece is about SpaceX, a company a Tessera product is linked to. Read what follows with that in mind.

The Valuation Target Has Moved

The Timeline Has Hardened Into Dates

The 14 April piece referred to the timeline in general terms: a public S-1 in late April or May, a roadshow to follow, a June listing as the target. Those dates are now reported as settled. The public S-1 filing is expected in late May, the roadshow begins on 8 June, and pricing is set for 15 June.

That specificity changes the calculus for anyone watching from outside. There are now eight weeks between today and pricing, and the period in which private market exposure is available before institutional pricing takes over has a defined end. Dates reported before a filing are subject to change, and listings slip for reasons that have nothing to do with the company.

Vesting Has Been Accelerated

This week SpaceX accelerated the vesting schedule for employee share awards, moving it forward to as early as next week. Employees do not set their own vesting dates; the company does. The straightforward reading is that management is tidying the cap table before the S-1 becomes public. Other readings exist, and the company has not explained the change.

What to Watch Tomorrow

Three things matter most.

Starlink's unit economics. The valuation thesis depends heavily on Starlink being valued as a platform business, with recurring, high-margin, defensible subscriber revenue, rather than as a capital-intensive infrastructure operation. The chief financial officer has told bankers the addressable market is $1.6 trillion. Tomorrow is where that meets actual numbers.

The xAI narrative. SpaceX acquired xAI in an all-stock deal in February, adding significant losses to the combined entity. How management frames the orbital data centre thesis, and whether it is coherent enough to support the multiple, will set the tone for the roadshow.

What is not said. Defense contract sections of the S-1 will be redacted. Starship program cash burn will be presented in the most favorable light available. Analyst Day is a managed presentation rather than a cross-examination, and the absence of specific numbers in particular areas will be as informative as the numbers that appear.

Nothing tomorrow settles the valuation question. It is the first occasion on which the people arguing for it have to do so with figures attached.

Sources: the reported valuation above $2 trillion, the roughly 125 times 2025 revenue multiple, the public S-1 expected in late May, the roadshow beginning 8 June, pricing on 15 June, the acceleration of employee share award vesting, the chief financial officer's $1.6 trillion addressable market figure for Starlink, and the February 2026 all-stock acquisition of xAI are as reported at the time of writing and were not confirmed against company statements. The 14 April piece referenced is Chan Ahn's, as published under his byline. Figures, timeline and market state are as of 20 April 2026 and have not been updated since; the dates described as settled had not occurred at the time of writing.
